Each year the USDA selects 12 states to highlight transformative practices in school nutrition and food services. This year Drummond has been selected not only to represent Montana, but to be highlighted in the USDA National School Lunch Week. Our food service staff continues to expand student nutrition programs, has incorporated the school greenhouse to produce items served with our school lunches, and has expanded its use of locally grown and sourced food to use in our school lunch program. Other notable programs include our nationally recognized culinary program, the Indian Education bison harvest, and the elementary school garden and cooking classes. Future plans include expanding and developing the community garden to provide nutrition and education of agriculture for our local families and kids. All of these programs have contributed to being selected to represent Montana in the USDA National School Lunch Week Program.
